Moussa Diaby

Arsenal are finally firing the right way and showing that they can be a world-power with excellent form in the English Premier League by setting their eyes on a new player, Moussa Diaby. Unfortunately for Mikel Arteta, they have lost the bid for Murdyk to Chelsea after the latter joined the London club in a £62m deal with an additional £26m in add-ons.

However, Arsenal is still looking for new players to beef up their squad in their bid to solidify their current squad and maintain their grip on the first place in the Premier League. Sadly, the asking price for Diaby is about £87.8 million. That was roughly the price of Mudryk which Arsenal was strongly against.

According to some publications, Arsenal is also preparing a bid for Real Valladolid’s youngster Ivan Fresneda in the upcoming weeks. The right-back is reportedly being considered as a potential option for the future, and a bid of £17.5 million is reportedly on the table to secure him ahead of Premier League competitors.

Moussa Diaby’s background

Born in 1999, he is a French footballer and was selected in the French national team. He started playing football at the tender age of 13. Diaby has broken many records when it comes to age as he competed in the U18,U19,U20 and U21 levels for France.

According to Dennis Melzer who is an expert for Bayer Leverkusen, Diaby has improved massively since his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Following the transfer, Diaby has scored 19 goals and contributed 15 assists since the start of last season. Leverkusen did not have the best luck earlier as currently they are 12th in the Bundesliga. It appears that Diaby has contributed massively to the team, which then caught the eye of Arsenal.

Fans react to Arsenal’s interest towards Diaby

The first reaction from fans are them posting memes about Chelsea wanting to “steal” this player from Arsenal next. Ever since they outbid Arsenal for Mudryk, football fans are looking at Chelsea as unoriginal and a little too observant towards their competitors.

Tweets such as “another L” (L stands for “loser” which is commonly used on TikTok and Twitter among Gen-Zs) and sarcastic fans stating that Todd Boehly, the Chairman of Chelsea Football Club, will hijack this deal.

Another popular opinion is why are young footballers being sold off to other teams at £80 million. Fans are asking if that is now the new magic number for a potential prodigy like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.

Regardless of the situation, the Premier League stated that the current transfer window will close on the 31st of January 2023. Arsenal needs to make their move, and fast, if they are interested in revamping their current structure.
