In Pool A of the 39th edition of the Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament, which is currently taking place here at the nearby Surjit Hockey Stadium, Burlton Park, the Indian Railways defeated the 11-time finalist and past champion Indian Oil Mumbai by a score of 2-1 to gain three points.

The Punjab National Bank defeated ASC Jalandhar by a score of 5-3 in the second game to earn a second victory in the league stage.

Indian Railways defeated Indian Oil Mumbai, who boasted a star-studded lineup, by a score of 2-1 in the pool-A league match. In the 36th minute of the game, Gurjinder Singh converted a penalty corner to give Indian Oil the lead (1-0).

Railways’ Arjun Sharma scored a field goal in the 58th minute of action to tie the game (1-1). Sheshe Gowda, a player for the Railways, scored the game-winning goal in the dying seconds (2-1). Each Indian Oil and Indian Railways, who both have six points in Pool A, are competing for a spot in the semi-finals.

The Indian Air Force is in the lead in this pool with three points and will face the Punjab Police in their final league game. Finalists from this pool will compete after that game.

ASC Jalandhar and Punjab National Bank competed in the second game of the day in Pool B. Satender Kumar’s goal for Punjab National Bank gave them the advantage in the opening minute (1-0).

In the fourth minute, ASC equalized when Ravneet Singh scored from the penalty spot (1-1). Gurjinder Singh’s field goal gave the Punjab National Bank a lead in the 18th minute (2-1).

The ASC tied the score in the 20th minute thanks to a field goal by Gautam Kumar (2-2). Bhagat Singh Dhillon and Deepak each scored a goal for the Punjab National Bank side in the 26th and 28th minutes, respectively (4-2).

The ball was scored by Bank’s Deepak in the 50th minute of play (5-2). David Dung of ASC added a second goal in the 56th minute to make the score 3-5.

The Punjab National Bank earned six points from its first three games with this victory. ArmyXI, the other squad in this group, has six points after three games. The semi-finalists of this pool will be determined by the game between Punjab and Sind Bank and ASC.
