MANCHESTER – Hot off the ring, Chris Eubank Jr’s trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, was arrested on Sunday after airport staff discovered a gun in his luggage at Manchester Airport.

On Sunday morning, McIntyre was arrested at a check-in point ahead of a flight to Atlanta. According to reports, the baggage was stopped by the UK Border Force after a security scanner showed a gun along with a loaded magazine and ammunition.

Armed police then stormed Terminal 2 of Manchester Airport to take McIntyre into custody for further questioning, according to Sky Sports News.

The 53-year-old trainer was immediately charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. McIntyre then appeared at Stockport Magistrates’ Court, where he was further remanded in custody.

The Greater Manchester Police gave a statement to Sky Sports News to confirm the incident:

“At around 10.45 am on Sunday, 3 September 2023, officers were called to reports of a possible firearm being found in hold luggage by airport staff at Manchester Airport,” the statement from Greater Manchester Police said.

“After initial inspection by security staff, GMP officers attended, and the firearm was seized.

“Subsequently, a 53-year-old man was arrested for possession of a firearm and was taken to custody for further questioning.

“Brian McIntyre (01/07/1970) from the United States of America was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.

“McIntyre attended Stockport Magistrates court this morning where he was further remanded into custody.

“He is next due to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Monday, 9 October 2023.”

McIntyre is famous for being the boxing coach of some of the titans in the Sport, including Terence Crawford, Chris Eubank Jr., Amir Khan, and Jamel Herring. This year, McIntyre was able to help boxers Crawford and Eubank win their fight.

In July, he was in the corner when Terence Crawford won against Errol Spencer Jr. and grabbed the welterweight title. And just a day before his arrest, he was also on the scene when Eubank won a high-stakes rematch against Liam Smith in the Manchester Arena. It was in the 10th round of the fight when Eubank managed to triumph over Smith to complete a dominant performance and avenge his previous defeat.

But, just as the news of Eubank’s victory began to circulate online, attention turned to his trainer, McIntyre, instead. The news quickly spread on the internet a short moment after Sky Sports News reported the incident.

Readers are now on standby as his next appearance at Manchester Crown Court is still on October 9.
