Morikawa

Collin Morikawa declares that he is not afraid of chasing the spot of World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in the final round of the 2024 Masters. The two-time major champion scored a three-under 69 to get to six under, just one shot behind the leader.

In a statement, Morikawa confidently expressed: “I truly believe in what I can do.”

Morikawa rose to recognition when, in just his second major tournament play, he won the 2020 US PGA Championship. Although he has only won one on the PGA Tour he followed it by winning The Open at Royal St. George’s in 2021.

Morikawa – growth

Morikawa appears to have discovered his game at the right moment since he is the only player to score all three of recent rounds under par. He says: “It’s been a struggle the past few years…I had to search and I had to find something. It hasn’t [always] been fun but it’s been fun to learn about the game and myself.”

He is expected to play at his peak to get past Scheffler, the top-ranked golfer in the world, who has won two of his previous three tournaments.

“Scottie is the number one player in the world for a reason and what he’s done is incredible… But it doesn’t scare me. I still know my best and what I truly believe I can do,” Morikawa added.

Following Scheffler’s wild round of one-under 71, Morikawa will take off with the final group alongside the 2022 Masters champion.
