The 123rd French Open has come to an end after an exciting two weeks filled with thrilling matches. Making history in his career, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 to win his third grand slam title and first at the French Open.

One of the major questions asked as the French Open concluded: How much money will the champion take home from this prestigious competition?

The prize money

The overall prize money for this year is 53.5 million euros ($58.12 million), reports Reuters. That’s more than the prize money of the 2023 season. A total amount of $1,303,440 will be awarded to the finalists, which is about half of what the grand winner would receive.

Equal amounts of money are given to men and women. In addition to the cash reward, the winner of this competition will receive 2000 points, and the runners-up will receive 1300 points.

After winning the US Open in 2022 and Wimbledon last year, Alcaraz becomes the youngest person to win a grand slam title on every surface with this historic victory.

Following his success, the athlete said: “I just have good words for you guys for the support I’ve received, not only in matches but in practices … You’ve made this tournament so special.”

At the moment, Carlos Alcaraz has a net worth of between $14 and $15 million. Over his career, he has won around $24.5 million in tournament prizes. Moreover, his opponent, Alexander Zverev’s net worth is an estimated amount of $35 million, and he has earned almost $40,824,423 in his playing career.
