Some may be surprised but many were expecting that we would see Arsenal beating Manchester United in their match earlier today. Arsenal has been on the winning streak even before the FIFA World Cup break. It appears that they have kept their momentum towards their goals of winning the Premier League.
In the Premier League, Arsenal remains number. However, Manchester United has fallen from number three to number four, with Newcastle United taking their previous third position. Manchester City is ranked second and are still five points below Arsenal. The Gunners have one match in hand having played 19 while City played 2 matches.
Erik ten Hag Responds to Manchester United’s Defeat
The strict Dutchman has a lot to say to the media with regards to his loss today. It is to no surprise that he is disappointed with the results and knows that his team could do better. He then claims that his team has made “unacceptable” mistakes on the field.
Reported by ESPN, Ten Hag stated, “We made mistakes with all three goals. Normally we are better in such situations. It can’t happen. We have seen today, we still have a way to go to be top level.
“The two first goals start with a corner and we make so many mistakes from the corner to the goal. It can’t happen. It’s a lesson we have to take.
“We will face the players with this because it can’t happen. Good teams don’t make such mistakes. We had moments on the break, but we have to defend much better in that situation.
“We started the game very well, scored, were leading and then made so many mistakes that are actually unacceptable.”
Marcus Rashford Speaks Out
After the disappointing loss, Marcus Rashford has urged fans to remain supportive of the team and maintain their belief that they are “heading in the right direction.” Despite taking an early lead in the first half with a goal from Rashford himself, Manchester United were unable to hold on to their advantage.
The home team equalised with a goal from Eddie Nketiah and then took the lead thanks to a spectacular goal from Bukayo Saka in the 53rd minute. Manchester United tried to fight back and managed to score through World Cup winner Lisandro Martinez, but it was not enough to secure a win.
Never easy to lose a game like that at the last minute but we go again! We're heading in the right direction and need to remain positive.
