Broncos

The past week has seen Taylor Swift’s re-release of 1989 become one of the highest-charting albums of all time, her own records being broken, and her Eras Tour leading to her being declared a billionaire. It’s been a whirlwind and amazing week for the star. For her beau, though, not so much.

Swift was nowhere to be seen in Kelce’s game last Sunday.

And with the pop star not around, Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs lost miserably to their AFC West rivals, Denver Broncos. Luck, it seemed, was not on their side that fateful day. The tight end, without his lover on the stands, had only nine targets and caught six passes for 58 yards with no touchdowns. That’s a big drop from his last game, when he had 12 catches for 172 yards.

To make matters worse, their quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, was also reportedly feeling under the weather after showing signs of flu.

“It’s the worst I felt walking out of the stadium,” said quarterback Patrick Mahomes, after throwing only two interceptions and no touchdowns.

Chiefs vs. Broncos

Since September 2015, the two teams have met 16 times on the field, with the Broncos losing each time. However, the team ended the drought this week, and in celebration, they seized the chance to taunt their long-time rival and top-performing tight end, Kelce.

They did so by blasting Taylor Swift’s smash song ‘Shake it off’ through the speakers and having their cheerleaders dance to it.

Amused by the petty behavior, the audience ‘swiftly’ shared a small clip of the celebration on X.

The Broncos improve to 3-5 after splitting their season series, while the Chiefs fall to 6-2, as per Yahoo Sports.

Although there are many elements at play, the public only perceives two reasons why the Chiefs lost: first, the majority believes that their good luck Charm, Swift, was not present, and second, the Broncos’ defense played practically flawlessly.

“The Broncos forced five turnovers and Denver was able to score 17 points off of those and that was the difference in the game,” John Breech from CBS Sports wrote.

Despite this, Swift’s name reappeared in the news, but this time it was linked to the Chief’s rival. There is no guarantee that this trolling will continue each time the team suffers a defeat; however, one thing is certain: with today’s game, it reinforced the notion that Kelce’s performance drastically decreases each time Swift is absent.

His brother, Jason, even reaffirmed this on their podcast, stating, “When TSwift is at the game, you are averaging 99 yards. And when you are left with only your friends and remaining family there, you are at 46.5 yards a game.”
