Indian Premier League which is also known as the IPL is an Indian Domestic Franchise based cricket league. The tournament is organised by BCCI and was first played in 2008. The tournament is conducted every year and matches are based on T20 Format.

IPL was initially started with 8 teams based in various different Indian Cities in 2008 and now the latest edition has 10 teams participating in the league. This is the shortest format of the game and many teams score mountains of runs in those overs.

As IPL is a very short format, batsmen try to score runs as quickly as possible and bowlers are also in attacking mode. Due to constant urge of scoring runs, Batsmen play wrong shots or due to bad timing, they get out.

Lowest innings score recorded in IPL is 49 runs. This unfortunate incident happened with Royal Challengers Bangalore when their star studded batting line up collapsed Kolkata Knight Riders on 23 April 2017.

Banglore won the toss and opted to bat and they set an achievable target of 131 runs before being bowled out in the 19th over. Despite Sunil Narine giving a good start, the batting line up failed to put up a big score and every one thought it would be an easy win for Banglore.

The Star Studded line up of RCB failed to achieve the target. Every Batsman was bowled on single digit run and RCB was all out in 9th over. It was very shocking as RCB had few of the world’s best batsmen including the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli.

The second Lowest total recorded in IPL was 58 Runs by Rajasthan Royals when they were playing against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Royals were chasing the target when they were bowled out in Cape Town. IPL can be surprising and very strange records like Lowest total can also be created.
