Since having an impressive first full season in the IPL last year while playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Indian bowler Umran Malik has had a meteoric climb in the world of international cricket.
Umran made a splash in the IPL 2021 when the Hyderabad franchise hired him on as a COVID substitute. The tearaway pacer’s ability was on full display as he made the batters dance to his rhythms.
He did go for runs, which was a problem when he made his India debut as well because of his inconsistent lines and lengths, but he has greatly improved since then as evidenced by his impressive performances in recent matches against Sri Lanka while continuing to rush the hitters with his pace.
Javed’s remarks on other cricket players
According to former Pakistani cricketer Aaqib Javed, Umran is not as “fit” as Haris Rauf.
In contrast to Rauf, who Javed stated is disciplined with his nutrition, routine, and training, Umran has a problem with his speed dropping, as he starts at 150 but slows down in the later overs.
Javed even went so far as to imply that contrasting Rauf and Umran is akin to contrasting Virat Kohli with the other batters.
Javed mentioned in his remarks on sports-related events and happenings: “Haris Rauf has more fitness and training than Umran Malik.” If you see him in ODIs, you will notice that he initially bowls at a speed of about 150 kmph, but by the seventh or eighth over, the speed has dropped to 138 kmph. Similar to how Kohli and the other hitters differ, so do they. Haris has excellent self-control when it comes to his training, food, and way of life. Nobody from Pakistan who bowls has a similar diet to Haris, at least not that I’ve seen. His lifestyle is distinct from anyone else’s. “For me, bowling at 160 kmph is not a big thing, but maintaining a constant speed throughout the entire match is essential.”
Time Umran recently played in the ODIs against Sri Lanka, taking five wickets in two matches, Rauf was the greatest bowler for Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2022 and has been for a while in white-ball cricket. Umran has been waiting for his chance ever since.
