Jrue Holiday

The wife of Jrue Holiday, FIFA World Cup winner and two-time Olympic gold medallist Lauren Holiday stirred the calm when she posted on Instagram and broke her silence on the Bucks-Blazers-Celtics trade that blindsided his husband.

In the post, Lauren posted a family picture with the headline “It’s not personal, it’s business” written on it.

Before publishing it, Lauren debated whether or not to expose everything, but she ultimately chose to go for it since she felt that being open and vulnerable “helped her heal.”

She revealed in the message how she and Jrue developed strong ties with Milwaukee residents who served as their support system and how much she has gotten to know the other spouses on the Bucks team. “There’s no business to any of that. Milwaukee was home.”

She then went on to describe how Jrue discovered he had been traded by the Bucks when he woke up.

“On Wednesday, my husband took a nap. He woke up to the news that he had been moved. No warning, no heads up, not even a conversation that it could be a possibility. Just, it’s done. Now move on because “it’s not personal, it’s business.”

However, despite not being a stranger to this kind of deal, Lauren shared that this time was different and that, in her words, “it crushed her”.

“So, yes this is more than business. Not because we’re offended by it but, because we are people, we’re humans, we have relationships, dreams, and a connection to where we play.”

After the Bucks dealt Holiday to the Trailblazers, a few days later on October 2, it was announced that Holiday would be traded to the Boston Celtics for Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, a 2024 first-round pick (via Warriors) and an unprotected first-round pick in 2029 (via Celtics).

Celtics also announced this news on their X and welcomed Holiday with a post that says:

The Holiday season came early this year ☘️

Welcome to Boston,
