Durant

A video of Phoenix Sun’s Kevin Durant jamming to former Hornets Kai Jones’ music trended on X, prompting fans to ask if he was trying to get the former Hornets center/forward to join the Suns.

The video in question originated from Durant’s Instagram story, where he appears to be in a studio with an unfamiliar song in the background. Initially, there was a narrative element to the recording, as well as the sound of a violin and piano in the background.

What did Durant crack-up

At one point in the video, Durant cranked up the volume just in time for the classical music background to transition into some sick beats and rap. In no time, he bobbed his head to the beat and wore an expression on his face that seemed to suggest that the music was dope.

It turned out that the song in the background belonged to none other than 22-year-old Kai Jones. The song was released about two weeks ago and has been described as ‘fire’ by a number of YouTube viewers.

Spotting this fun footage on Durant’s Instagram, one X user, @Hatedzs quickly shared it on X, where it was subsequently shared by Kai Jones himself and the NBA Central.

Fans then took to the comment section to say that this was perhaps Durant’s way of trying to recruit Jones into the Phoenix Suns after he was waived by the Charlotte Hornets last October 11.

Two users said, “bro is recruiting lol” and “Bro wants him to join the suns 💀”. While another one added, “Kai Jones Suns szn loading…Enough saaid #TrustTheProcess”

Kai Jones waived by Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets officially waived 22-year-old center/forward Kai Jones on Wednesday. The decision was announced just two days after Jones’ bombshell X post, in which he stated that he had officially sought a trade from his team.

Jones was already teetering on the cliff when the Hornets announced on September 30 that he would be unable to participate in training camp due to ‘personal circumstances,’ with no set timeframe for his return.

Jones, however, was determined to break free from the Hornets after two seasons, writing on X on October 9 that he had officially requested a trade.

Putting an axe to their relationship, the Hornets decided to waive him off, in which Jones responded via his X, with “I used to pray for times like dis #GOATLIFE”.
