Tatum

At the young age of twenty-five, Jayson Tatum has already accumulated several accomplishments and accolades in his professional career, including being named NBA Eastern Conference Finals MVP and earning a gold medal as a member of the 2020 United States Olympic Team in Tokyo.

And adding to his list of achievements is his latest career milestone last Saturday night at the Boston Celtics vs. Brooklyn Nets match-up, where Tatum managed to surpass the 10,000-point mark to become the youngest Celtics player ever to pull off this feat.

Celtics vs. Nets

Before Sunday’s game against the Nets at the Barclays Center, Tatum was on the verge of reaching the 10,000-point point-mark, only 16 points shy of the record.

Tatum’s point total rose to 15 in the second quarter after he performed a spin, drove to the hoop, and made a basket. However, the player covering him was fouled, allowing Tatum to shoot a free throw. And sure enough, Tatum delivered, making the shot and giving him the 16 points he needed to reach the 10,000-point mark.

The Boston Celtics forward ended the game with a game-high 32 points and 11 rebounds, helping his team defeat the Nets 124-114. Tatum shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line, an effective 10-for-20 from the field, and a 6-for-10 from 3-point range, according to Yahoo Sports.

As per Taylor Snow, Tatum now holds the title of the youngest Celtics player to pass the 10,000 mark and 10th overall. Previously, Antoine Walker held the record, achieving the feat at 26 years, 131 days.
