It is undeniable that Jannik Sinner put on an outstanding performance at the ATP Finals to top off an incredibly great season.

At the final match of the event, Sinner delighted his home crowd in Turin by winning against Taylor Fritz in straight sets. This was the athlete’s maiden victory in the ATP Finals, and he recorded 70 victories in the 2024 season.

Hard-court victories

Without a doubt, Sinner is the world’s top hard-court player at the moment. With the exception of Halle on grass, all eight of his 2024 victories were won on hard courts, and he lost only three matches on the surface during the entire year. Furthermore, he both won hard-court Grand Slams and hard-court ATP Finals. Sinner’s eight titles included two Grand Slams, three Masters 1000s, two ATP 500s, and the ATP Finals.

Sinner only lost on the hard courts this season against Carlos Alcaraz in the Beijing final and Indian Wells semi-finals, as well as to Andrey Rublev in the Montreal quarter-finals.

By dominating the courts, he joined Roger Federer (2004, 2006, and 2007) and Novak Djokovic (2015 and 2023) as the only other players in history to win the Australian Open, US Open, and ATP Finals in the same season.

70 wins in a season

As of the moment, Sinner has a 70-6 win-loss record for the 2024 campaign. He is the first athlete to win 70 games in a season since Andy Murray in 2016.

Moreover, Sinner accomplished something that Djokovic, Federer, or Nadal had never accomplished: winning the ATP Finals without dropping a set. He is the only player to win the tournament without dropping a set since Ivan Lendl in 1986,

In the ATP rankings, Sinner will end the season with approximately a 4,000-point advantage over Alexander Zverev, who is now in second place.

With more room for improvement, Sinner admitted: “I actually believe there is still a gap of improvement… The higher you play level-wise, the more details make the difference. I’m always trying to improve as a player and trying to understand what I can do better.”
