The G League Elite Camp, where 45 players on the periphery of the NBA radar tried to get on the radar and earn consideration as draft picks, served as the opening event of the NBA’s draft combines week over the weekend. The majority of players at the event are vying for consideration for a two-way deal, especially in light of the NBA’s decision to add a third spot for two-way contracts for the 2023–24 season. In 2022, two Elite Camp participants went on to be drafted.

Following two days of physical evaluations, practice sessions, and five-on-five games, here are some observations on the key takeaways.

Top Five-on-Five Performers:

John Broome of Auburn, who commanded the rim in both games with 23 points in Game 1 and 17 points and 8 rebounds in Game 2, was perhaps the player with the most impressive statistical performance throughout the course of the weekend, an article on SI.com reported. Although he didn’t necessarily display any aspects of his game that he hadn’t in college, he undoubtedly benefited from better spacing. Before this incident, most people would have anticipated that Broome would return to Auburn, but he might now have more options. Eight players were accepted to the official NBA combine this week after the event, and he was one of them.

Five additional players were invited to the combine in addition to Broome, Davis, and Rice:

  1. Tosan Evbuomwan from Princeton impressed scouts with his playmaking ability and showcased a remarkable 7’1″ wingspan, indicating his potential impact on the defensive end.
  2. Jazian Gortman, a player from Overtime Elite, displayed strong scoring abilities and showcased impressive creativity with his ball-handling skills.
  3. Dillon Jones from Weber State stood out as a jumbo wing, making a notable defensive impact and showing his prowess in transition situations during the second day of the combine.
