Manchester United

Just after the whole Cristiano Ronaldo drama with Erik ten Hag and rumours of Jadon Sancho potentially leaving the club, Manchester United has recently announced that they would extend the contract of certain key players belonging to them.

According to the Guardian, the names involved are Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Fred. They have all had their one-year contracts extended by the club. Furthermore, there are positive talks that are ongoing with David de Gea regarding a new contract that would reduce his base pay from approximately £300,000 per week.

It has been noted that the club is going through some financial difficulties, especially when having owners such as the Glazers, who are wildly unpopular among Manchester United fans. Rumours of a new owner popping up to purchase the club is also being whispered around, but we will have to wait and see what happens next.

Erik ten Hag makes Rashford, Shaw, Dalot, and De Gea his top picks, with Fred serving as a squad member. Rashford, Shaw, Dalot, and Fred would have been free in January to discuss moves to foreign clubs if United had not chosen to take up the 12-month options that are standard in their contracts for players under 30.

De Gea is one of United’s highest-paid employees, therefore they want the Spaniard to sign a deal that pays him less each month but has significant incentives rather than extending his tenure by a year.

Unfortunately, rumours about Manchester United’s plans for next summer is that Fred is almost certainly going to be sold. However, the agreement allows United to charge a fee.

There haven’t been any talks with Shaw about a new deal, but it would be surprising if Ten Hag approved of any proposals for the 27-year-old defender. Rashford and Dalot, both of whom have experienced a noticeable improvement in form under Ten Hag this season, may also be examples of this.

Fans excited for Manchester United’s return

Most are excited to see their favourite club returning to the Premier League. However, there are some Ronaldo fans who are still disappointed in the club due to his mistreatment. Most Manchester United fans seem to not care about the superstar’s time at the club. The comments defending Ronaldo usually gets shut down by other fans.

Liverpool fans joined in the debate stating that Jurgen Klopp’s team will definitely beat them next week. Questions on the contract renewals of Rashford, Fred, Shaw and Dalot arose in the comments section as fans were also asking who is the best player in the club now that Ronaldo is gone.

Some positive fans claimed that Manchester United is the biggest club in the world. However, with the financial aid Arteta has gotten for the next transfer period, clubs like United may need to take a step back, either that or train their existing players harder than before.
