Rafa Silva Benfica

The Portuguese team, Benfica had beaten Italian Juventus in an intense 4-3 match on Tuesday at Estadio da Luz. This match was practically for the teams to advance their way into the Champions league.

Prized player Rafa Silva scored twice for Benfica. Currently, Benfica in Group H have 11 points after five games. Unfortunately for Juventus, they only have three points. Now Juventus has to worry about securing their position in the Europa League as the Champions league run is over for them.

Hopefully, Juventus can secure their position after their match with Paris Saint-Germain. Benfica has gone on 20 games without a single loss in this season and it boils down to the fact that they were creative with the ball.

They had complete control of the ball up till the second half where Juve rallied back against them.

“It was a typical Champions League match, we knew we were playing against a great team,” Benfica goal scorer Joao Mario told the press.

“Our game was beautiful until the 70th minute, then Juve had a lot of quality and put us in difficulty.

“We know that there is a long way to go, the season has just begun. We must continue like this, keep the right mindset and always work hard.”

Benfica on the rise again?

According to football journalist Millar Colin, he stated that Juventus has been knocked out of the Champions League for five straight years through different clubs. For 2022, it’s Benfica’s turn in kicking them to the curb.

Collin then stated that Ajax, Lyon, Porto, Villarreal and Benfica are not “glamorous” enough for the Super European League. Netizens fought back saying that some of these clubs declined to play for said league.

Teams like Ajax are considered stronger power houses compared to the latter. Some are even saying that the Europa League is like the new Super European League.

However, Benfica is now on top, above PSG and Juventus. They are a good team but still not exactly Champions League material said a netizen. However, if the big clubs fail to perform in the Champions League, we might see a surprise of this Portuguese club joining the ranks of Chelsea and Liverpool.

Paris Saint-Germain in trouble?

“Best football in Europe right there,” is one of the comments stated regarding the club. There were comments against PSG stating that it was Qatar owned, fans of PSG then shut down the comments saying PSG can purchase these smaller clubs and shut them down.

A vicious reply to an opinion. Netizens further commented that this statistic must be embarrassing for Lionel Messi as he plays for PSG. Some are even claiming that thanks to Messi, PSG is not ranked higher.
