Thus, the home team won 2-1 to win the three-match ODI series. In the last game, India easily won by scoring 100 runs in 19.1 overs after setting a target of 100 runs. This was made possible by Shubman Gill’s 49-run innings.

Earlier, the hosts bowled out South Africa for 99 runs with Kuldeep Yadav’s stats of 4 for 18 in 4.1 overs. Seven South African batters were removed for under ten runs, while Heinrich Klaasen led the visitors with a 34-run inning. India’s captain Shikhar Dhawan made the decision to bowl first in the game.

Getting the entire ODI at Ferozeshah Kotla seems far off until 10 in the morning on Tuesday. In the four days preceding the game, it didn’t stop raining, and an additional drizzle that came early in the morning presented a significant difficulty to the ground staff.

But with barely two hours of sunshine, Sunil Chauhan, the BCCI’s person in charge, and DDCA Chief Curator Ankit Datta worked a miracle to start the game after only 45 minutes of delay. Not a lot of data is lost.

Datta, 34, has been in charge of Kotla Square for seven years. During that time, he has worked tirelessly to erase the pitch’s reputation for low and slow play. But the biggest obstacle for him is this. On Tuesday, the drainage system in the yard benefited from off-season work.

Although the game ended with a low score, the wet ground—which had been covered for four days—was more to blame. The ball starts to arrive with a better club as the game progresses, and Anrich NortjeDeliveries started to happen quickly and with a large carrying capacity.
