Travis Shaw, the mayor of Ding Dong City, just made his retirement announcement. Fans were shocked and moved when the former MLB infielder declared the end of his baseball career on Twitter.

He began his MLB career in 2011, and over the past eight seasons, and has constantly outperformed himself. The Toronto Blue Jays, Milwaukee Brewers, and Boston Red Sox were all represented by him.

“I’ve had the good fortune to fulfill a boyhood goal of mine by playing Major League Baseball for the previous eight years. But as of right now, that fantasy is over! I was drafted in the ninth round 12 years ago, and I could never have envisioned the opportunities this game would have given me.

“The memories will last a lifetime. I will always be grateful to everyone who had a positive influence on my professional life (the list is limitless). The only thoughts I have as this chapter comes to an end are, ‘Thank you!” – Travis Shaw on Twitter.

Fans were moved to tears by the touching parting post, which sparked a Twitter post flurry. “In Mr. Mayor’s words, it is a career.” It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was watching Shaw rise through the ranks, which makes me sad. Travis Shaw, I appreciate you doing everything.

He spent a lifetime in the game during the eight seasons he played. 237 hits. For the Brewers between 2017 and 2018, he hit 63 home runs. Over the course of 733 games and 2,690 at-bats, he finished his career with 114 long balls.

The seasoned player made the decision to end his baseball career and start a new one just a few months before he turned 33.
